nancy-k-wallaceWelcome again to Once Upon a Time with… where we interview a fellow author.

Today, we welcome Nancy K. Wallace, the author of Harper Voyager’s Fantasy series, Wolves of Llisé. Nancy was signed in the same open submission pool where we had our start, and it’s been a blast getting to know her.

Like any good fairy tale, let’s begin with Once Upon a Time. Nancy, what’s your “Once Upon a Time”?

I led a charmed childhood thanks to loving and creative parents. Our house came complete with bedtime stories, Summer Solstice Tea Parties for the fairies who lived in our woods, magical Christmas Eves, gumdrop trees, and ponies. I went to bed every night knowing my parents loved me and that tomorrow would bring some new wonderful, magical adventure! (more…)

Welcome dear readers to another fairytale story-themed interview, Once Upon a Time with… where we interview a fellow author.

Today, we’d like to welcome W.R. Gingell, a Tasmanian author who lives in a house with a green door. According to her own biography, she spends her time reading, drinking an inordinate amount of tea, and slouching in front of the fire to write. Like Peter Pan, she never really grew up, and is still occasionally to be found climbing trees. Solid stuff and probably much better than working on a lighthouse in land-locked Vermont.

I ran into her during a Facebook interview I was having during A.F.E. Smith’s Facebook launch promotion for the epic fantasy, Darkhaven. W.R. was good enough to laugh at my jokes and knowledgeable about fairytales, so when I discovered she also wrote fairytale fantasy, I had to invite her to visit. (more…)

Today, I am having a special Once Upon a Time With… interview. That’s because not only  am I getting the chance to interview one of my favorite new authors, A.F.E. Smith, but it’s her RELEASE DAY for Darkhaven!!! She gave us the amazing Barren Island Books interview, and it’s an honor to return the favor. Welcome, A.F.E. Smith! (more…)

Like any good fairy tale, we’ll begin with Once Upon a Time. What’s your “Once Upon a Time”? Tell us about your beginning as an author. Where did you live and what sparked you to decide to write?

I lived in Albany, NY and, in high school, I loved reading. When a teacher told us that writing was like creating a game, with characters and worlds, I thought it sounded like fun. So I began.

Sometimes a fairy godmother or perhaps a fae stranger appears to make dreams come true. In this case, the dream involves becoming a published author. How did your publication dream come true? (more…)
